As Founder and Principal of Keystone Development Group, Art May possesses over 35 years of experience in all facets of real estate development. He has extensive expertise in structuring
transactions, financial modeling, public private partnerships and development management. Art has managed a portfolio of individual and masterplan projects consisting of mixed-use market rate multifamily and affordable housing, hotels, sports and entertainment, office, and R & D development for various partners and clients.
8 Keystone Development Group, LLC is a full-service real estate development and consulting firm, specializing in urban in-fill, mixed-use development projects. Some of Keystone’s clients include the Related Companies, Bentall Kennedy, Oakland Athletics, Serra Real Estate, MacFarlane Partners, BRE Properties, BUILD (for-profit division of BRIDGE Housing), Archstone-Smith, SUDA, Westlake Development Partners, Lessel Realty, and Presidio Development Partners. Some of the master plans Art worked on at Keystone include Related’s CityPlace Santa Clara development (5.4 million SF commercial, 1.5 million SF retail and entertainment, 2,500 residential units, and 700 hospitality rooms), the Oakland Athletics’ Howard Terminal development (35,000- seat MLB baseball stadium, 3,000 residential units, 1.5 million SF commercial, 400 hospitality rooms, 270,000 SF retail, and 3,500-seat performance center), and SUDA/MacFarlane’s Mandela Station
development (300,000 SF tech and life science, 760 residential units of which 30% are affordable, and ancillary retail). Prior to forming Keystone Development Group, Art was a partner with a local commercial developer focused on office, research & development, and industrial projects. Art was also Vice President of
Development with the Kimpton Hotel and Restaurant Group managing acquisition and hotel evelopment in several east and west coast markets. He served as Regional Vice President for ecurity Capital Group, developing extended-stay hotel studios (predecessor to Extended Stay merica) and Vice President for SCG Multifamily Development developing multifamily housing predecessor to Archstone Communities). Prior to these positions, Art served as VP and CFO for estern Development Group and project manager for a Seattle-based general contracting firm. rt received an MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business and earned a BS in onstruction Management, cum laude, as well as a BA in Architecture, cum laude from the University f Washington. Art is an active member of the Urban Land Institute, an Oakland Young Life ommittee member, a Certified Green Building Professional, and a prior board member of the tanford Business School Alumni Association.
